New to GTDInbox and trying to get the hang of GTD generally...so please bear with me. I have browsed the forum, but can't see an obvious answer to this question.

If I create a new GTD item using the "Compose Personal" option and pre-label it...is there a reason why I wouldn't want to to be automatically "Marked as Read" and automatically "Archived" when it arrives in my Inbox?

As far as I can tell, I don't want it to be seen to arrive in my Inbox, I just want it correctly labelled and visible under the GTD label lists?

If there is a reason why some people might want to manually archive, is it possible the choice about manual/automatic archiving could be one of the UI options?

Thanks, Nick

nwarren -

I see no one ever responded to this thread you started. I hope by now you have an answer to your question. I am a newbie and I have the same question. I know I can set a filter to auto-archive, but what are the pros / cons of doing so. It would seem if it were a 'no-brainer' GTDINBOX would have already done this for me. Any help / guidance you can give me is appreciated.

thanks,
